This leafy, circular Christmas decoration is popularly used around the world because of its significance. They started out as something worn on the head that eventually made its way to be a decoration that is used indoors and also outdoors.

During the Christmas season, many will purchase a wreath which they will place on their front doors, walls, and in different areas around the house. Some would opt to use plastic, artificial wreaths, while others like the authentic, leafy ones that give off such a beautiful scent.

No matter what your choice would be, you can never go wrong when you buy one. But, who is to say that you can only use a Christmas wreath only during the Christmas season? Wreaths are wonderful accessories or accents that you can still use even if its not even December yet.

The trick is to find one that you can still use after the holidays. Choose a basic wreath that will look good at your home. If you have brown motif in the living room, you can use brown, dried-up twigs that are shaped into a circle. You can hang it above the mantle. It will still look good, even if it is not Christmas.

There are even antler wreaths (which you can buy in specialty shops) that look very old world and masculine-looking. It denotes a sense of the outdoors and it will especially look good on top of your fireplace. When Christmas time comes, use a green and red ribbon to decorate the antlers and immediately, you have a turned a wall accent into a Christmas decoration.

Use your imagination so that you can create something that will look good in your living room. Those old ropes that are lying on the garage for the longest time, you can wind it along a circular wire and you would have created a wreath that you can place in your den where your collection of ship paraphernalia is stored. The ropes add that certain outdoor, naval feel. Come Christmas time, and you can add leaves and ribbons to it, perfect as Christmas décor. You would not have to buy new ones!

You will save a bundle of cash when you purchase or make wreaths that you can use all year long. No need to take them down! Just spruce it up, come Christmas season and you are good to go. It is really easy. Just be creative and use your imagination.

The Christmas Wreath is still very much popular today as it was when it was introduced first in the world. Although a lot of people painstakingly make these beautiful Christmas decorations, most of them are not aware just how far its tradition really goes.
The wreath goes back to the Pagan times and the Persian Empire’s ancient culture. Although the wreaths of the Persian Empire were smaller than what we hang on our family doors today, they were actually symbols of wealth and importance as they were encrusted with jewels and were worn on the head. Meantime, the Greeks’ wreaths were made of laurel and were placed on the winning athlete’s head during the Olympic Games.
The Romans continued with the tradition with the wreath worn on the heads of their leaders, like Julius Caesar. Eventually, the wreath moved from head gears to decorations of the walls or doors. This is probably because they display it as a souvenir of the victory of the athlete. It is thought that this is how the tradition of the hanging of the wreath on walls was born.
From there, hanging of the evergreen wreath was started, and it spread to Eastern Europe. Candles were adorned candles that were lit during the cold evenings of the winter as it was believed that it can help rush in spring as well as fine weather.
The wreath was moved from a pagan to a Christian tradition and was typically used by the Catholics. During Advent, the wreath was hung up and usually has four candles in the mind middle of the circle. Nowadays, the wreath is made in the form of a circle which signifies no beginning and ending. In the Christian religion, it symbolizes God and eternity. Traditionally, the candles are white or three violets and one rose. Each one of the candles was lit each day except for the one in the middle which will be lit on Christmas Eve, right before dinner.
Quite often, the Christmas wreath is made of real or artificial evergreen boughs of holly. Though the artificial ones will last for a long time, they don’t have the fresh smell of wreath made of real pine and other items. Today, it can be decorated with stuff like fruits, pine cones, ribbon or lace or modern materials for a unique look.
Whether you hand make them, or you purchase one from a store, wouldn’t it be wonderful to know the story behind the wreath that you’re hanging on your door?

Christmas centerpieces are an elegant addition to any holiday table and they are easy to make using some of the decorations and materials that you probably already have at home! There are many ideas out there for warm and inviting Christmas centerpieces that will impress your guests and add a cozy feel to the room.

Although less traditional, an edible Christmas centerpiece can add a unique and beautiful feel to any holiday meal! Depending on the size of your table, purchase a suitably-sized styrofoam cone from any local craft store. Fourteen to sixteen inches is a nice size for this delicious evergreen. Place small parsley sprigs over the entire cone, starting at the top, making sure not to leave any of the cone visible. The newly designed tree can be placed in plastic wrap and refrigerated until show time. The next step in finishing this lovely Christmas centerpiece is to trim the tree with munchies such as cheese cubes, cherry tomatoes, olives, shrimp, and any other small, edible items you like. These decorations can easily be affixed to your Christmas centerpiece using decorative toothpicks. If you typically provide a vegetable tray in your holiday spread, this is a great and creative alternative. Try adding crackers around the base of the tree, and including some of your favorite dips in small glass bowls or votive candle holders off to the side. The best part is, your Christmas centerpiece can be redecorated as the ornaments begin to disappear!

Another simple Christmas centerpiece idea is to take two footed cake plates and stack them. Dress the plates with holiday greenery, pine cones lightly sprayed with silver paint, small or medium-sized glass ornaments and some berries or miniature foil-wrapped boxes for a bit of extra color. Also try adding a sprinkle of fake snow to this arrangement to get you into the holiday spirit! This Christmas centerpiece is incredibly easy to put together and adds a feeling of sophistication to any table.

Consider other simple ideas such as a pre-lit holiday wreath with a candle in the center or arrangements that include your favorite Christmas items, such as a nativity scene or Santa’s reindeer. Fill a basket or decorate a silver serving tray with fresh pine sprigs, ornaments, and colorful bows. Just remember that your Christmas centerpiece is an expression of yourself and have fun with it!

This holiday seasons Christmas décor is about simplicity. Everyone is feeling the economic pinch, and trends are turning to a warm, homey holiday, that is a simply decorated setting. Warm colors, glittering flourishes, and warm scents, will delight the senses this holiday season. Decorating for this holiday season couldn’t be simpler, as Christmas décor is about all about cozy.

Most experts will tell you, this seasons Christmas décor is all about warm colors. Rich traditional reds and greens are a good start. Combine those with warm autumnal colors, and add a touch of gold or silver for a fresh look. Avoid whites or cool blues that will leave you feeling crisp and chilly. Instead, turn towards cozy reds, comforting greens, and the fall oranges and yellows that make you want to curl up with a warm book, to color your Christmas décor this year.

Since simplicity is the objective in this seasons Christmas décor, consider mono lighting. The elegant and cozy décor of a tree lit only by white lights, or the beauty of a house outlined in red is what this season is about. Multicolored lights may have been the trend before, and you may have strings of colorful lights stored in your attic, but those are the Christmas themes of the past. This year, consider solid, warmly colored lights for your Christmas décor. If solid lights are out of your budget, try swapping cool colored lights for warm ones using your old strings. Remember, warm and cozy is the fashion in Christmas décor this season.

Finally, a large part of your Christmas décor is the scent in your house. A well-decorated house is not only colorful and homey but is scented with warm Christmas like scents. Everyone can identify with the cinnamon and apple smell of a baking pie. Or the warm pine smell of your Christmas tree. Try incorporating scented candles into your Christmas décor. The scent will carry in the air and the flicker of light will add charm to your Christmas décor.

Christmas décor this year is all about simplicity. This season is not for rushing out and buying the newest, hippest decorations. Rather, it is about scavenging your own house, finding warmly colored flourishes, and combining your resources to make a unique warm Christmas décor of your own. Don’t be afraid to get creative and mix in homemade flourishes of your own. This seasons Christmas décor trends are warm, cozy, homemade, and unique.
